Mission

HUMANITAS is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to fostering rigorous intellectual exchange across the humanities. Founded in 2023, the journal provides a forum for original research that bridges disciplinary boundaries and engages with the cultural, philosophical, and historical questions that shape our world.

Aims & Scope

The journal welcomes contributions in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Philosophy and critical theory
  • Literary and comparative studies
  • Cultural and postcolonial studies
  • History and historiography
  • Aesthetics and philosophy of art
  • Digital humanities
  • Gender and sexuality studies

History

HUMANITAS was established in 2023 by a collective of scholars from European and Latin American universities who identified a need for a genuinely multilingual, interdisciplinary platform in the humanities. The journal has since published three volumes, featuring work from over sixty contributors across four continents.

Editorial Policies

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each paper is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.

Open Access

HUMANITAS is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. All content is freely accessible without subscription or paywall.

Publication Frequency

The journal publishes two issues per year, in June and December.

No Publication Fees

The journal does not charge any article processing charges (APCs) or submission fees.
